Back Up App Data:
- Open Settings
- Go to Backup & Reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow app data, settings and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or when reinstalling applications
Back Up Contacts to SD Card or Storage:
- Open Settings and go to Applications
- Tap Contacts
- Tap Import/Export Contacts > Export
- Select Storage or SD Card
- Tap OK
Back Up Contacts on an Account:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts and select Google
- Select the desired account and ensure Contacts is checked
- Tap More > Sync Now
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Launch My Files
- Scroll to Local storage and tap Device storage
- Tap More > Edit and select the media files you want to back up
- Tap More > Copy > SD Card
- Select the desired folder or tap Create folder
- When ready, tap Paste here
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Copy the media files from the phone and transfer them to the desired backup location on the PC
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB
Back Up Media Files on a Mac:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps below if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
- Click Download for Mac and install the app on the computer
- Connect the Android device to the Mac via USB
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device from the pop-up or Notification area
- Launch Kies and tick the boxes associated with Photos, Music and other file types to back up
- Tap Backup when ready to start the sync
- Once done, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the trash can to eject it
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB
