Back Up App Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Backup & Reset”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
  4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or when reinstalling applications

Back Up Contacts to SD Card or Storage:

  1. Open “Settings” and go to “Applications’
  2. Tap “Contacts”
  3. Tap “Import/Export Contacts” > “Export”
  4. Select “Storage” or “SD Card”
  5. Tap “OK”

Back Up Contacts on an Account:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts” and select “Google”
  3. Select the desired account and ensure “Contacts” is checked
  4. Tap “More” > “Sync Now”

Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:

  1. Launch “My Files”
  2. Scroll to “Local storage” and tap “Device storage”
  3. Tap “More” > “Edit” and select the media files you want to back up
  4. Tap “More” > “Copy” > “SD Card”
  5. Select the desired folder or tap “Create folder”
  6. When ready, tap “Paste here”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Copy the media files from the phone and transfer them to the desired backup location on the PC
  5. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB

Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps below if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

  1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
  3. Click “Download for Mac” and install the app on the computer
  4. Connect the Android device to the Mac via USB
  5. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” from the pop-up or Notification area
  6. Launch Kies and tick the boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music” and other file types to back up
  7. Tap “Backup” when ready to start the sync
  8. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the trash can to eject it
  9. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB
