NOTE: For instructions on how to back up data on the device, check this thread.
Restore Contacts from SD Storage:
- Open Contacts
- Tap Menu
- Go to Settings
- If necessary, access Contacts to display and switch to All contacts
- Tap Import/Export contacts > Import from SD Card
- Press OK to confirm
Restore Media Files from SD Storage:
- Launch My Files
- Go to SD card
- Tap Menu > Edit
- Check the tick boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Tap Menu > Move
- Select Internal storage and tap Move here
- Alternatively, tap Create folder or the folder name in order to restore the files to a different location, then tap Move here
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
- Copy and paste the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders form where they originate
- Once done, you can safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device on the phone
- Open Kies on the Mac and access Back up / restore
- Go to the Restore section
- Check the tick boxes associated with Music, Photos and other media file types you want to restore
- When ready, click Restore and follow the on-screen prompts
- After the process ends, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the trash can to eject it
- You can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
