WARNING! By clearing an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app, including login information, high scores, credit card information, user profiles etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps
- Select the desired app
- Access Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt solve the issues, try Clear data (check the Warning above)
Reset the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and you intend on fixing these issues by factory resetting the device, alternatively you can try clearing the phones cache partition instead. This can give similar results to a factory reset without losing any of your personal data on the phone storage.
- Turn the phone Off
- Next, press and hold Volume Up and Home at the same time
- Then press and hold Power too
- At the Android screen, release all the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
- Once in Recovery, navigate the menu by pressing volume down repeatedly
- Highlight Wipe data/factory reset and press Power to select the option
- Highlight Wipe cache partition and press Power
- Highlight Yes and press Power again
- Once the cache has been cleared, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: In case clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: In case a third-party app causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- If necessary, turn the phone Off
- Then, press and hold Power
- At the Samsung screen, release Power and quickly press and hold Volume down instead
- After the phone reboots, release all the buttons. Note that a Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first go to Settings
- Access Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall to confirm
- You can exit Safe Mode by rebooting the device as you would do normally
