NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up contacts, media files, and app data on the phone.
Restore Contacts from SD Storage:
- Launch Contacts
- Tap Menu > Settings
- If necessary, tap Contacts to display and select All contacts
- Go to Import/Export contacts
- Tap Import from SD card > OK
Restore Media Files from SD Storage:
- Open My Files
- Access SD card
- Tap Menu > Edit
- Tick the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Tap Menu > Move > Internal storage
- Tap Move here or Create folder and select the folder name
- Tap Move here when ready
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the PC
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
- On the phone, enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- In Kies, go to Back up / Restore and access Restore
- Tick the boxes associated with Photos Music and other media file types you want to restore
- Click Restore to follow the on-screen prompts
- Once the process completes, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the Trash can icon to eject it
- You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
