NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up media files, app data, and contacts on the phone.

Restore Contacts from SD Storage:

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
  3. Go to “Contacts to display”
  4. Select “All contacts”
  5. Tap “Import/Export contacts”
  6. Tap “Import from SD card” > “OK”

Restore Media Files from SD Storage:

  1. Open “My Files”
  2. Go to “SD Card” and tap “Menu”
  3. Tap “Edit” and check the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Move” > “Internal storage”
  5. Tap “Create folder” or “Move here” and select the desired folder name
  6. Tap “Move here”

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the Android device and PC
  2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / ‘Media device” when prompted or from the Notification shade
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
  5. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Mac:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Launch Kies on the Mac
  4. Go to the “Restore / “Back up” tab
  5. Go to “Restore”
  6. Tick the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore, then tap “Restore” and follow the prompts
  7. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the “Trash can” to eject it
  8. Safely disconnect the device from the USB port
