NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up media files, app data, and contacts on the phone.
Restore Contacts from SD Storage:
- Launch Contacts
- Tap Menu > Settings
- Go to Contacts to display
- Select All contacts
- Tap Import/Export contacts
- Tap Import from SD card > OK
Restore Media Files from SD Storage:
- Open My Files
- Go to SD Card and tap Menu
- Tap Edit and check the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Tap Menu > Move > Internal storage
- Tap Create folder or Move here and select the desired folder name
- Tap Move here
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the Android device and PC
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification shade
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
- On the phone, enable Media device / File Transfer at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Go to the Restore / Back up tab
- Go to Restore
- Tick the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore, then tap Restore and follow the prompts
- Once done, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the Trash can to eject it
- Safely disconnect the device from the USB port
