Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If an app crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! By clearing the apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save files, settings, user profiles, login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear only the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear data
- Tap OK
- If clearing the app data didnt fix the problems, tap Clear cache
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power Volume Up and the Bixby/Home keys at the same time
- At the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for access to Recovery
- In Recovery, navigate the menu by pressing Volume down repeatedly
- Highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option
- Then highlight Yes and press Power again
- Once done, highlight Reboot system now and press Power one last time to complete the process
NOTE: If clearing the phones cache partition didnt solve the problems, you can check this thread fir instructions on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If a third-party app causes problems and prevents you from removing it from the device, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Turn the phone Off
- Next, press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Release the keys once the device finishes rebooting. Note that a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, launch Settings and go to Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall two times to confirm
- Once done, reboot the phone normally to exit Safe Mode
