Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of the apps installed on the phone freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try solving these issues by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes user profiles, save files, personalized settings, login and payment information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Storage
- Tap Clear data > OK
- If clearing the app data didnt solve the issues, tap Clear cache
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power Volume Up and the Home/Bixby buttons at the same time
- At the Android screen, release the keys and wait for access to Recovery
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Next highlight Yes and press Power to confirm
- Once the reset is done, Reboot system now should be highlighted. Press Power one last time
NOTE: If clearing the phones cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If a third-party app causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default .To boot to Safe Mode:
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- After the phone finishes rebooting, release the keys. Note that a Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings
- Then go to Apps and select the desired application
- Tap Uninstall two times to confirm
- Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone normally
