Back Up App Data:

  1. Open “Settings” and access “Cloud and accounts”
  2. Tap “Backup & restore”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
  4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or logging in with the backup account

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Go to “Cloud and account” > “Accounts”
  3. Select an account to use for the backup
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:

  1. Open “Contacts”
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings” and access “All contacts”
  3. Tap “Import/Export”
  4. Select to “Export to SD”
  5. Tap “OK”

Back Up Media Files on the Phone:

  1. Open “My Files”
  2. Access “Internal storage”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Tap “Share” and select the desired contact
  5. Tap “Share” again and select a backup location

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the PC and locate the media files on the phone
  4. Transfer the files to the computer storage in the desired backup location
  5. Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

NOTE: You can skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

  1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/kies/
  3. Clock “Download for Mac” and install the app
  4. Connect the Android device to the PC via USB
  5. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  6. Open Kies on the Mac
  7. Go to the “Back up / Restore” tab and access “Backup”
  8. Tick the boxes associated with “Music” “Photos” and other media file types you want to back up
  9. Click “Backup” to start the sync
  10. After the process completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device form the USB port
