Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If an app crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all the data stored in the app will be deleted, including user profiles, save files, settings, login and payment information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY The apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache > OK
- If clearing the app data didnt solve the issues, tap Clear data (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Power Volume UP and the Home/Bixby buttons at the same time
- From the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for Android Recovery
- Once in Recovery, press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option
- Highlight Yes and press Power
- Then, highlight Reboot system now and press Power one last time
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power
- Release Power at the Samsung logo and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Release the button once the phone reboots. Note that a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To uninstall an app, first open Settings
- Go to Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall two times to confirm
- Once the app has been removed, reboot the phone normally to exit Safe Mode
