Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing it by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! By clearing an app’s data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including login information, save files, user profiles, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
  5. Tap “OK” and if clearing the app cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re thinking of factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power” “Volume down” and the “Home”/”Bixby” button simultaneously
  3. Once at the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
  4. Navigate the Recovery menu by pressing “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  5. Press “Power” to select the option then highlight “Yes” and press “Power” again to confirm
  6. Once done, ensure “Reboot system now” is highlighted” and press “Power”

NOTE: if clearing the phone’s cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Make sure the phone is powered off
  2. Press and hold “Power”
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. Wait for the phone to finish rebooting and then remove the “Volume down” button. Once done, you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower area of the home screen
  5. Open “Settings” and go to “Apps”
  6. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” tow times
  7. Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your device normally
