Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: if one of your apps freezes, crashes, otherwise doesnt work as intended you can try fixing it by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! By clearing an apps data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save files, user profiles, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear the app cache ONLY.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Storage
- Tap Clear cache > OK
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data (check the Warning above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: if your phone crashes, freezes, or doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing the issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset but wont delete your personal data.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power Volume Down and the Home / Bixby buttons at the same time
- Wait for the Android screen and then release the keys
- In Recovery, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Highlight Yes and press Power to confirm
- Once done, highlight Reboot system now and press Power to confirm
NOTE: if clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: if one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Make sure the phone is powered off then press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- After the phone reboots, release the keys. You should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings and then go to Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall twice
- Once done, you can exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone normally
