Clear App Data/Cache:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, or takes more storage than it should, you can try fixing it by clearing its cache or data.
WARNING! When clearing an apps data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. To avoid this, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- Tap OK
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data (check the warning above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing the issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset without losing data from the phone storage.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power Volume Down and the Home / Bixby buttons simultaneously
- Release the buttons once you see the Android screen and wait for Recovery
- In the Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Highlight Yes and press Power
- Finally highlight Reboot system now and press Power one last time
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you can uninstall the app in Safe Mode where third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power with the device powered off
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and press and hold Volume down instead
- Wait for the phone to reboot and release the button. Once done, a Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the home screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Then go to Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall two times to confirm
- You can exit Safe Mode by rebooting the device normally
