Clear App Data/Cache:

NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, or takes more storage than it should, you can try fixing it by clearing its cache or data.

WARNING! When clearing an app’s data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. To avoid this, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
  5. Tap “OK”
  6. If clearing the app cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” (check the warning above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing the issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset without losing data from the phone storage.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power” “Volume Down” and the “Home” / “Bixby” buttons simultaneously
  3. Release the buttons once you see the Android screen and wait for Recovery
  4. In the Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. Highlight “Yes” and press “Power”
  7. Finally highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” one last time

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you can uninstall the app in Safe Mode where third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” with the device powered off
  2. At the Samsung logo, release “Power” and press and hold “Volume down” instead
  3. Wait for the phone to reboot and release the button. Once done, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the home screen
  4. To remove an app, first open “Settings”
  5. Then go to “Apps” and select the desired app
  6. Tap “Uninstall” two times to confirm
  7. You can exit Safe Mode by rebooting the device normally
