    Its weird.
    If I go to menu/get it now/1. get tunes & tones/
It let me record a voice memo. Since this option is in get new ringtones menu, I would assume you could set your recorded voice memos as ringtones, however, I don't see an option that lets you do such a thing.

so youre saying you might be able to record the clip through the microphone and play it that way?

Is there any way where you could make a clip on your computer and use some kind of cable that goes from the computer to the phone and make a ring tone that way?

If there isnt a way yet, do you think its possible that someone will figure something out? I really want to set my own ringtones and i havent been able to do that with any phone ive had in the past. Its between this phone and the lg 8100 and i really like the samsung but i know i can make ringgtones with the 8100.

Well, I looked in my phones manual and it says "to create a voice memo ringtone do this" blah blah blah, and it says it adds it to your ringtone list which it does (but I have discovered, that it only adds it to the get it now list, which is different then your rington list)(in the regular list which lets you set ringtones, the "voice memos" are nowhere to be found.) It should be able to be done, and the manual says so, but verizon is retarted. Obviously someone messed up here and its not me. There is either some type of glitch or a miscomunication in the manual.

Maybe your need a minisd card to get it to work e.g. move the voice memo to the card and see if it works from there.

BTW you can get all your own ringtones to this phone without a data cable. You will need a minisd/transflash card and an sd card reader. Drag and drop your ringtones/pics from your computer to the card, insert card in the phone, and thats it.

hey sorry i was a little confused by your response because i dont have the phone so i dont really know what you are talking about. So youre saying that you are able to create and set your own ringtones with this phone? I just need to know that before i buy it.

Sorry, it's kinda hard to explain. Basically you SHOULD be able to take a voice memo and set it as a ringtone but you can't (at least as far as I know, perhaps you need a minisd card which I don't have)

BUT, you can make your own mp3/midi ringtones and put them on a minisd card and use those of ringtones.

ok im kind of new to this and have been searching but i am still not really sure. What and how much is one of those cards? Also once i get one of those cards are you sure that i can make my mp3's into ringtones? For some reason i thought i read somewhere that you can with a 970. Oh and by the way thanks for the help.

    Here is a minisd card
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820183160
You will need a card reader such as this
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820402201
You plug the card reader into your usb port. You put the minisd card into the full sd card adapter that comes with the card. You plug the sd card adapter into the card reader. You computer recognizes the card as a usb flash drive, and you drag and drop your files into it. Take the sd card adapter out of the card reader. Take the minisd card out of the sd card adapter, and plug your minisd card into your phone. Now everything should work.

I could be wrong about the ringtones becuase I don't actually own a minisd card.

<edit> Well, after reading a few other threads about this phone on other forums, it looks like it is not possible. FOR NOW, the only thing you can use a minisd card is for transfering of pics/videos.

im not getting the phone for about a month... do you think it will be possible at that time? Does it usually take long to figure these kind of things out? What about what you were saying about recording things on your phone and using that as a ringtone?

Another question about that memory card is about mp3's. Could i use that to save mp3's as well from my computer on to the phone? How many will it hold?

I tried all that and it doesn't work. It doesn't seem to matter where you put an mp3 or mid file, you can't make it a ringtone.
