SCH-A950: A few questions not about ringtones

Hey guys/gals, just joined the forum here, and was looking for a few answers to some questions.

1. Is there any way to turn on the front display without opening the phone? Pressing a button on the outside, changing a setting, etc.?

2. Is there any way to put a JPG/GIF file from my computer onto the phone only using a 512MB microSD card (and any program I can download)?

to turn on the front display all you have to do is press and hold the up or down buttons on the left side.
