Help With Samsung Rant...

I recently purchased the samsung rant(SPHM-5400 through sprint)...so far I love it. Anyway, my girlfriend has the lotus and shes been using myxer.com to get ringers. I tried with my samsung rant and it wont work. It keeps saying some rubbish about my phone not being able to use any ringers...but I have ringers on it. It sometimes asks me what format of ringer the rant should use....can anyone help me with the situation?

I need to know the format of ringer sprint uses with the rant.

Why myxer.com wont work with my phone but does with my girlfriends.

And if I just cant use myxer.com is there any other similar sites that have free ringers?

I get the text with the link from myxer.com, I can go to the link and click on the file to download it...but it says "DOWNLOAD FAILED
The issue has been
reported. Please try again
later 950 Server Error"

I found the fix for that 950 server error problem. You have to update your firmware. At the main screen, click "Options", then "Main Menu", then scroll down to "Tools". Choose option #9. Update Phone. Then option #1. "Update Firmware".

After your firmware is updated, you will be all set. Just tested it.

I had trouble with this one too. I recently switched from a Blackberry Curve 8330 to a Purple Samsung Rant and i wanted my OWN ringtones and had hundreds of them on my memory card but I could not get them to work with my Rant. But I eventually figured it out. This example is based on Sprint Service. If you already have ringtones, put them on your computer or even if you have to get them from another website, DOWNLOAD them to your computer. After that is done, go to Rumkin.com on your PC and on your phone you will need to open your web browser and go to rumkin.com/tools/sprint/jump.php . On your PC select "phone uploader". Under the "Upload Wallpapers, Ringers, Etc." section, upload the ringtone thats on your computer, put in the description but leave the "send to" option BLANK. this will create a "jump code". On your phone, once the jump code is created on your PC, you will need to enter it into the appropriate spot and select "get file". This will download the ringtone to your phone. It will give you the option to 1. Listen or 2. Set As. When downloading a file you may get an "untrusted domain" warning. Continue with your download. Once this is done you should be all set . The only downside about it is you can only do one ring tone at a time. This also works for games, wallpaper, screen savers, ect. Good Luck!

I have a Samsung Rant by Sprint too, but i go to Myxer.com ALL the time and get ringers, videos, and even screensavers. Idk why it wont let you? It works perfectly for me

This is a common problem with the Rants. The easy fix to this problem is to go into your tools/update/update firmware. This will update the firmware on the Rant...once this is finished you should be able to use myxer with no problems!

Ok i did this and it worked, BUT I can't use this I downloaded for email/text messages. I love this phone, had it two days, but I get so irritated at trying to get stuff like this on phones, I have manually put stuff on phones many times. With all the technology, I don't see why they don't just play the mp3s off the sd card. I mean I emailed a picture and boom, my wallpaper. Irritating.

the only reason and the only reason u cant get the ringtones from myxer is because u have to update ur filmware that happened to me and i didnt know. you have to go to tools and go down to update phone press ok and ur gonna see update filmware and uodate prl update filmware. then go to settings then phone info click version and your version is supposed to be cb23 if u cant find where that is its the second line or under prl

Well I recently owned a rant and was able to use myxer.com but I had to trade it in today because of the defects it has of dropping calls every two minutes. But my recent phone that is a rant isnt working, I did the firmware update and my phone still will not download anything, I still receive the 950 server error report.Yes I tryed turning it off etc.

I do not have internet access with my Rant, so I do not even attempt to get ringtones from websites, in fear of fees for internet access from Sprint.
But I did find out that the types of files for the ringers, and I must advise that this has only worked with my contact's ringers so far, is the 3gpp2 format.
You can create your own ringtones by taking an mp3 file from your pc, cut it down to about 30s with "audacity" or whatever other software that does the trick, add a picture to it (I did this with windows movie maker software) then I used a software called "Pazera Free Video to 3GP" to convert it to the 3gpp2 format. Then just save that file in your SD Card in the "DCIM/100SSMED" folder.

Most of the ringtones are working, but a couple don't, it is still a work in progress!!

If you figure out how to set custom ringtones to the Alarm, please post as I am having a hard time trying to figure this one out.

Do you have to have internet on your Rant??
