You will need:
Charging/USB cable
Phone (of course)
microSD card
Qualcomms QCP converter software
Audacity audio software
The Process:
1. Insert the card on the phone and power on. This will make the various "my_" directories if they aren't already there.
2. Make your favoritest (it's a real word, trust me) ringtone in wav format using audacity or another sound editor.
3. Open the wav file in the QCP converter then select "File -> Convert" then save it as a qcp.
4. On your phone, go to Settings and Tools -> Tools -> USB Mass Storage. Wait until it tells you to, then plug the phone into the PC. It should come up as a new removeable drive (E: or F: or whatever...)
5. Drag and drop the QCP file into the "my_sounds" directory.
6. After copying, "remove" the phone via the windows taskbar widget then unplug it.
7. On the phone, go to Media Center -> My Sounds and you should see your new file. Click "Set As -> Ringtone".
Woohoo!

Re: Free Ringtones on the Samsung Rogue
I have found a way of getting free ringtones on the Samsung Rogue without using the microSD card & Qualcomm Converter. I found that the QCP file makes for a very low quality ringtone. All of the ringtones pre-set on the Rogue are in WMA format, so logic told me to try making my ringtones as WMA files.
Here is what I did:
1.) Get Audacity if you don't already have it. It's free, so just Google it and download it.
2.) Download the Free WMA MP3 Converter. You can Google this too, and download it for free.
2.) Import the MP3 of your choosing into Audacity and cut up the song to make the ringtone of your liking. (You might want to play around a bit with Audacity if you've never used it before. The easiest way to get the part you want is to select that part, copy it, then select the whole song, delete that, and paste in the part you want. Be sure to check out the Effects, so you can play around with Fading In and Fading Out)
3.) Once you've finished making the ringtone go to File>Export As WAV
4.) Open up the Free WMA MP3 Converter and click on WAV to WMA. Select the WAV file you exported from Audacity, and convert it to a WMA file.
5.) E-mail your @vzwpix.com name ([email protected]) and attach the WMA file to it.
6.) Open up the Multimedia Message on your phone (the ringtone should automatically play). Hit 'Options' and then 'Save As Ringtone'
It sounds like a lot, but it really is super simple if you know how to use Audacity. I kept all of mine under 30 seconds and at 128kbps so as not to make a file that's too big. This worked perfectly for me, hope it works well for you!

Re: Free Ringtones on the Samsung Rogue
Excellent! Good spot. That would explain why MP3 ringtones didn't seem to work.
I suppose that method works pretty well in this case, because, if you have this phone, you have a data/SMS plan.
All I need now is a way to easily write my own apps...

Re: Free Ringtones on the Samsung Rogue
So i've been using BitPim for years you don't have to sync it with your phone. If you have a usb cable you can make your own ringtones and then send them to your sound file. once you have it in your sound file send it to your self and save for ringtone. easy as pie.

Re: Free Ringtones on the Samsung Rogue
don't send it through pix place......you need to use the usb cord and drop the sound file into your memorie cards sound folder. once you've got it saved in the card send it to your self so you can save it as a ringtone. pix place messes things up when you try to do it that way. does that help?
