    re: Samsung SCH-U450 MTP settings

    Found the answer!
Here is what I did. Try this....

menu 9 "settings and tools" press OK

Go to menu item "phone info" press OK

highlight menu 1 "my number" and push #....it should ask you for your user lock...this is where you will put in 6 zeros.

Then go to MTP settting, and once your there, change MTP to MSM, this will allow your computer to communicate to the phone. Now you can hit the end button and the screen will say Music Sync Not Allowed, ignore this and plug in the cell phone to your computer with data cable and it will communicate with BitPim. I set my wifes phone up in BitPim as a SCH-U470 on the port displayed in Device Manager.

Yeah, this didn't work for me either. When I get to PORT MAP The 4 choices are:
    1 DS (Data)
    2 DM (Diag)
    3 HFK/FTC
    4 USB (MTP, MS)

When I select #4 USB there is 4 more choices:
    1 Ask on Plug
    2 Copy/Move Files
    3 MTP
    4 Modem

When I select one of the last 4 choices it says: PC CONNECTION CHANGE SUCCESSFUL. But it still stays in MTP mode.

Maybe this is a Verizon thing for the U450? I'd sure like to get it to a connection mode that will work with BitPim or PC Studio. I am able to connect to PC Studio but with MTP mode the only tool available is Media Player Mode which is useless for working on the phone.

-- I'm having the same issue as magee, just got u450 through verizon and trying to sync phone to pc. I can't get my computer to recognize anything on my phone (pics, mp3,etc). I was able to use windows media player for music but pics couldnt be successfully added/removed from my phone. I downloaded the samsung cdma drivers but pc sync is buggy...once it recognized my phone as a camera another time as a media storage.

Thanks for the tips akcdualch, anybody got suggestions/fixes?

    re: Samsung SCH-U450 MTP settings

From my internet searches Verizon has disabled a number of things with this phone including direct file access via Bluetooth or USB. Supposedly if you get the USB driver for QPST (Qualcomm Product Support Tools) you can connect via BitPim and PC Studio (possibly after some tweaking). I haven't tried it, and the post I saw was on another forum, so I am not sure if I should post it. An internet search including QPST should bring it up.

I did install PC Studio 3 (but not QPST) I was not able to see the phone with PC Studio, but it did show up on my computer with the options for OPP server, Voice Gateway (HSP), Dial up Networking(??), Imaging Responder (Basic Imaging), and BT Diag (SPP).

    --Issue Fixed--See Next Paragraph
I was not able to send any contacts to the computer, but I was able to send individual .vcf files (single contacts) to the phone by dragging them to the "OPP server". I could even group select and send them without any issues. I theory I should also be able to "Push" them from the phone to the computer. As far as I could tell, I setup the PC to receive and save them as a file.
    --Issue Fixed--See Next Paragraph

I was able to send multiple contact information to and from the computer. The phone needs to be set to "Always Connect", not "Always Ask" for the specific device when pushing vcard information from your phone. This setting comes up as a prompt when you first connect to the device, otherwise it can be edited by choosing "Options" for the device and then "Incoming Security". It also appears you can transfer directly to and from Outlook as well, though these are only push transfers so there is no "syncing"

I was able to send pictures to the PC and vice versa buy dragging them to the "Imaging Responder."

Transferring information via memory card. (My pre-edit paragraph has been completely revised.

I got an 8G SDHC memory card (Note: It takes a few minutes for the phone to completely recognize a card this large) You can copy what ever information you want to the memory card
and then import it into the phone, ie your contact information from your computer. This also works for Pictures, and Music (not copyrighted / downloaded from Verizon). In theory it should also work for Ringtones, and Sounds provided they are in the right format. You can upload all this to the card via the phone in "USB Mass storage" mode under the Tools Menu (Menu, 9, 2, 8). The ability to transfer to and from the card is under the Memory Menu (Menu, 9, 8). (NOTE!!! This MOVES everything from the phone to the card and vice versa, i.e. it deletes it from the original location.) For contacts you can copy information, to and from the card, but you have to choose "My Contacts" from the list and then options. (NOTE!! When copying or moving to the phone or the card, it does NOT!! check for duplicates. While playing around with it I created 3 identical copies of a short contact list, so each person wound up being listed 3 times,)

Well, I'm not sure but if your phone is run by verizion, like mine, you can send pictures and ringtones directly to your phone from your PC.
It costs the rate of your text message, but you can send 9 photos or 9 ringtones per message.

Although, i'm not positive about contacts~

I didn't search in the FAQ for verizon, but this site has a form where you can ask questions~

    it's picture.vzw.com

    re: Samsung SCH-U450 MTP settings

The communication I was referring to with a PC was via Bluetooth. With Verizon, I a pretty sure you can send a single contact via bluetooth as well. It appears you can also send multiple conacts as well, but I am not sure of the limit and it appears you have to add each one manually.

    re: Samsung SCH-U450 MTP settings

Has anyone ever tried connecting the SCH-u450 to the internet via a USB cord. I have searched countless hours on how to do it. I finally found the driver from the PC Studio software off Samsung's website and I finally was able to see the modem # SAMSUNG CDMA Modem. I wonder if the #777 still works with Alltel as I get an error # 692. I also dialed this # as if I was calling someone and the operator came on your number can not be completed as dialed. I also tried calling my other phone # to see if it would ring using the modem, as I thought the phone never rang. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am able to sync my USB after I installed a 4gig MicroSD memory chip
    Copy/move setting in the USB(MTP,MS)
Now I can copy and past all the info contacts in a blocked copy paste batch From and to the PC And PHone with no glitches. and this is a U450 I am talking about. This also works the same on a Blackberry. I had to have the expanded memory to make it connect.
As long as the PC syncs to the USB connection...as a copy/move files
