Backing Up Apps:

  1. While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button on your device
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Tap "Backup and reset"
    • Note: You need to be logged in to your Google account in order to be able and back up your apps. If needed, tap "Backup account" then press "Add account" and follow the on-screen instructions to either log in to an existing Google account or create a new one
  4. If necessary, mark the checkbox associated with "Back up my data", and the checkbox associated with "Automatic restore"

Backing Up Contacts to Your Samsung or Google Account:

  1. Tap the "Contacts" icon located on the home screen
  2. Select the "Contacts" tab
  3. Press the "Menu" button on your device
  4. Select either "Merge with Google" or "Merge with Samsung account"
  5. Tap "OK"
  6. If necessary, log in to your Samsung or Google Account
  7. Follow the on-screen prompts

Backing Up Contacts to Your SD Card:

  1. If necessary, install your SD card into your smartphone
  2. Tap the "Contacts" app located on the Home screen
  3. Press the "Contacts" tab
  4. If necessary, press the "Menu" button on your device, tap "Contacts to display" and select "All contacts"
  5. Press the "Menu" button on your device
  6. Select "Import / Export"
  7. Tap "Export to SD card"
  8. Press "OK"

Backing Up Media and Pictures Using Your Phone:

  1. Install your SD card if necessary
  2. Tap the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
  3. Select "My Files"
  4. Tap "All files" and select "sdcard0"
  5. Choose one of the following options:

    • To copy all of your files, press the "Menu" button and tap "Select all"
    • Locate the files that you wish to back up. Tap the checkbox located at the left side of each file and folder that you wish to back up

  6. Press the "Menu" icon located at the top-right corner of the display
  7. Select "Copy". Alternatively, if you wish to move your files without creating duplicates, select "Move" instead
  8. Tap "extSdCard"
  9. Navigate to the desired folder then tap "Paste here" or "Move here" (depending on the option that you've selected at step 7)

Backing Up Media and Pictures Using Your PC:

  1. Connect your smartphone to your PC using the USB cable that came with your handset
  2. On your smartphone, drag down toe status bar and ta "Connected as a media device", then select "Media device"
  3. On your computer, click on "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  4. Navigate to the desired files. Note: the "Card" icon is your SD card, and the "Phone" icon represents your handset's built-in internal storage
  5. Copy the files and paste them on the desired location on your computer
  6. When finished copying the files, disconnect your phone from your PC

Backing Up Media and Pictures Using Mac:

  1. If necessary, go to samsung.com/kies on your Mac and download the software for Mac OS, then follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies
  2. Connect your smartphone to your Mac using the USB cable
  3. Drag down the status bar on your smartphone, then tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
  4. On your Mac, open Kies
  5. In Kies, click the "Back up / restore" tab
  6. If required, press the "Backup" tab
  7. Click the checkboxes associated with "Music" and "Photo". Note: to back up all of your files, checkmark the "Select all items" option
  8. Click "Backup"
  9. When finished, disconnect your device from your computer
