Samsung E105 - Why does it drop the percussion when receiving ringtones?

I have downloaded several midi files, then convert them using coding workshop polyphonic, then send them to my phone and they don't sound the same. They sound lame, without the percussion it seems. Anyone know why?

I think I just figured it out- you can just email straight midi files to it. Much easier than running through that silly program and they sound much better

you're making song files that are too large, so it drops channels to shorten the file length along with trimming the song length.

use PSMPlay 5.0 to crop midi files and convert them to mmf for proper use with the E105/X105

Samsung SGH-E105 - Got it. Thanks. Also when using psm player 5, and adding volume, change the volume on the individual instruments to increase or decrease volume. I couldn't get the Master volume to really work. If you want to send a .mmf file with vibration and LED flashing, upload your file to euploader.com, then download it from your phone, it will accept the .mmf file in that way. Otherwise, you can just email .gif and .mid files as attachments to your phone.

try psm player 5.0

Ah, but how do you email them to your phone? I've tried, and I don't see anyway to extract the file from the message once I've received it. I've tried "Get Objects" but it just says "empty".

I'm having the same problems. When I try to send it to my phone, and look to "Select Objects" --it shows "Empty!" The file is attached though. I have psmplayer 3.8, and a Samsung e105. I just got it yesterday actually, and I'm dying to make this midi file into a ringtone. I already made it into .mmf file .. I just can't send it to my phone. Can anyone help me? Please? I will very much appreciate it! Thanks!

Hi There! I would recommend if U are using PsmPlay to convert midi-files to melody files, Samsung's EasyGPRS software with a data cable to download directly from your PC.
It must be mentioned that it seems that the midi-synth used in PsmPlay has a restricted collection of GM voices and this could be the reason that the general sound is inferior to some of the retail ringtones. However, selective tweaking in settings can offset this to some degree. Shame that the Samsung P400 restricts song length to one minute forcing cropping or editing of the original midi-file to suit. Hope this is of some help.

p.s., if anyone can suggest a better midi convertor, I am willing to try.

After my hurried reply last night, I decided to do a little research into the origin of polyphonic ringtones and tah-rah!.... I found a comprehensive authoring tool for editing midis and converting them into .mmf files. Follow the link below and download v1.4 (just about 10meg.). It's free and much better than the PSMPlay discussed earlier. Yahama usually doesn't go wrong and they developed the technology. Some complex midi files would have to be edited in Cubase, Cakewalk or similar prior to conversion as I found that some just do not get accepted. Happy experimenting!
