Sanyo 7300, data cable and unknown device

I have a sanyo 7300 that i bought from ebay as a sprint phone for my bellmobility service. i assumed they would be capable of unlocking it but they had no idea how to do this. i called sprint in the us and they confirmed that it wasnt stolen or lost but sadly they were also unable to help me.
After many many hours of reading forums and webpages regarding this process, i ordered and charging data cable from ebay and downloaded bitpim to get the msl and unlock the phone so the people at bell can get it working for me.
Got the data cable and it picked up my cell easily and charges but it only list it as 'unkown device' in xp. Any attempts or drivers result in the message 'location does not contain information about your hardware'
i know that is the phone because if i unplug it it disappears and plug it back in it reappears. Device manager indicates that it is a usb device but loads no drivers for it.

Can anyone help me with this please, I am beyond frustration.

Is it a debranded phone, I ordered one off of ebay and the same thing happened to me. Or maybe it has a unpaid balance on the ESN.

Its a sprint phone and apparently it does have an unpaid balance from the last owner. how would that interfere with the data connection through xp?

I'm not sure about the data connection, but I don't think you can unlock Sanyo phones.

Well i did get the msl from sprint finally even tho there was an unpaid balance. i can enter prgramming mode and can change mdn min sid nid etc so i think thats a good start. ill bring it to bell and see if they can program it now.
I'll work on the device error later.
