There are multiple ways of transferring contacts from an iPhone to the Sony Xperia M. The four methods described below are the most convenient, and all of them have their benefits. Select whichever method you prefer for transferring your contacts.

Using iTunes to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone to the Sony Xperia M:

  1. On your computer, launch iTunes. If necessary, download and install iTunes from the Apple website
  2. Connect your iPhone to your computer
  3. Once connected, your device will appear in iTunes. Click on your handset to open its summary page
  4. Click the "Info" tab
  5. Mark the check box associated with "Sync Contacts With"
  6. Select "Google Contacts" from the drop-down menu
  7. Enter your Google account's username and password. If you have previously added a Google account, you can click "Configure" and select an account
  8. Click "Apply" and allow iTunes to finish the syncing process
  9. On your Sony Xperia M, register the same Google account if you haven't done so previously. To add an account, go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
  10. Allow the Google account to sync the contacts with your Xperia M

Using iCloud to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

If you've previously enabled the iCloud service on your iPhone, then your contacts should have been backed up to your iCloud account. You can retrieve these contacts and import them on your Xperia M by doing the following:

  1. Using your computer's Internet browser, visit www.icloud.com
  2. Sign in to your iCloud account
  3. Click "Contacts"
  4. In the list of contacts, select those that you wish to export
  5. Click the icon depicting a cog wheel (located at the bottom-left corner), and click "Export vCard"
  6. Your computer should now download a VCF file containing the contacts
  7. Import the VCF file in "Google Contacts". Alternatively, connect your Xperia M to your computer and copy the VCF file to your phone's "/sdcard" directory. Then, go to the "Contacts" app, press the "menu" icon, tap "Import contacts" > "SD card" > select the an account > choose the contacts that you wish to import / select the desired vCard (if there are more than one)

Using the "My Contacts Backup" to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

My Contacts Backup is an application that enables you to transfer contacts from an iPhone to the Xperia M, without the need of accessing a computer. To transfer contacts through this app:

  1. Install "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone from the App Store
  2. Launch the application and tap "Backup"
  3. After the backup process is complete, tap "Email" to create an email with the VCF file attached to it
  4. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  5. On your Xperia M, open the email containing the VCF file, and download it to import the contacts

Using the "Bump" Application to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

NOTE: In order to transfer contacts from your iPhone to your Xperia M using Bump, both smartphones need to have an active Internet connection. (The transfer is being done over cloud)

  1. Install the "Bump" app on your iPhone. You can find it on the App Store
  2. Install Bump on the Xperia M by visiting the Play Store
  3. Open Bump on both smartphones and allow permissions if prompted to do so
  4. On the iPhone, swipe right and access the "Contacts" section
  5. Select the contacts that you want to share
  6. Once the "Bump now!" text appears in the upper-right corner, you can lightly bump the two smartphones to start the transfer
  7. Tap "Connect". A copy of the previously selected contacts should now be sent to the Xperia M
