Back Up App Data:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Tap Backup & reset under Personal
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data and settings to your Google account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow app data to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or signing in with your backup Google account
Back Up Contacts:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts and select an account type
- Select an account to use for contact syncing
- Make sure Contacts is checked
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Sony device to your computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer (MTP) / Media device (MTP) when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Use the File Explorer to locate the media files on the phone storage
- Transfer the media files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files form a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between your phone and computer
- Turn on File Transfer (MTP) / Media device (MTP) at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the PC and locate the media file backups
- Transfer the files back on the phone storage, preferably in the Media directory or the folder(s) they originate from
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB port
