Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Open Settings
- Access Backup & Reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored when logging in with the backup account or reinstalling applications
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Launch Contacts
- Access All contacts
- Select an account type and the desired account for syncing
- Ensure Contacts is checked then tap Menu > Sync Now
NOTE: Contacts can be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or by manually syncing the account data (and contacts) with the phone.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification shade
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the PC
- Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android device to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the computer storage
- Transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
- Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
