Question about Email to Text Message/SMS

T-mobile offers an email address for every new phone. It is <yournumber>@tmobile.net. Cingular and others also did this, my question is this.

When I used to send an email to my att/cingular address it would come in as a text message. Can tmobile not do that? It isn't working on mine currently. Does anyone else successfully do this?
