I have had my sidekick slide for about 5 months, and I want to trade it on craigslist for a shine, but I have a 2 year contract when I bought the phone, and I got 50 dollars off it, so I'm not sure If I can trade it or wait until the 2 years are up.

Yes, you can sell or trade the phone... but you will still have to honor the 2 year contract.
What I did was sell my phone, then add a new phone line for $10 a month in additon to my current bill. In this case, I got the BB Curve for $49, and they extended the contract for two more years for only $10 a month, (for new phone line).

Depends on what kind of trade or sell.
If you sell or trade it like to friends/people you know.. you can.

Haha I understand. I have a 2 year contract.. I switch phones constantly.. I sold a Samsung then got a Nokia then sold it and brought a Sidekick LX the problem is that I was stupid because my friend convince me that the Nokia N95 sucked..and I made a very bad choice of selling it.

This is not true. When you get a phone discounted due to a new contract the phone is yours to do what you want with it but you still have to uphold your contract. Another words:
Example...
You just signed a new contract for two years. With this you acquired a new Sidekick for $100 USD (discounted).
Three months later you go on GraigsList and trade your Sidekick for a Blackberry. This is totally legal as this is now your phone and you can do as you wish with it. But you still have to stay with T-Mobile on that contract for the remainder of the 21 months till your contract is up.
Hope this helped.Did I Help? If so make sure you click the http://cellphoneforums.net/images/buttons/ha_plus.png http://cellphoneforums.net/images/buttons/ha_minus.png buttons!

Re: Can I sell/trade my sidekick slide even if it's under contract?
Im halfway through my contract and I was having trouble with my sidekick slide so Tmobile sent me a blackberry pearl. If you do change to a blackberry the sidekick data plan will not work on the blackberry so you have to tell your provider you switched phones and they have to set your account up with the other phone you traded or bought. You also have to get the data plan for the blackberry if you want to use the all the features on the phone which is $34.99, otherwise the only thing you can do with it is call out and recieve calls and your paying 19.99 or 24.99 (depending when you bought it) for the sidekick plan that you cant even use.
I hope I answered your question fully.
