Similar story I'm afraid - except I am happy to keep old phone.
Un-budging-ness is the new policy! I have not renewed yet, but will try
once more and report what happens: keep in touch.

I got offered very little last week when I called 4 times in total, so I
have moved to O2 via e2Save.
My missus called 2 days ago, got offered nothing, then called back
another twice. They eventually offered her the U600 free, 12 month
contract, 500 mins and 600 texts for £30 and half price for 6 months.
It really depends who you get on the day, but remember a few things -
    - Have some facts and figurs of other deals infront of you.
    - Be upbeat and happy on the phone. Engage them in conversation. They
are on the phone all day, som make the, want to help you. Wading in
shouting "I want or I am leaving" will not make them want to help.
    - Be firm. If they offer you a deal that is no good, say you will think
about it. You do not have to say yes or no right then.
