Just got the Kyocera slider. Need a little help.

My friend decided to get a new cell phone shortly after purchasing the Kyocera Slider (SE47). He liked the slider, but i guess he saw a new phone that he liked better. Anyway, seeing as i diddnt have a cell phone he decided to give the Slider to me. He canceled the service and everything, so now its just a hunk of plastic that i can play ringtones on.
Anyway, my main question is, is it possible to just go get one of those prepaid phone cards and start using the phone? I dont want to pay a monthly bill, so i figure a prepaid phone card would be the way to go if it is possible.
A different friend started going on about something called a SIM card, and that i would need to get one of those. Where would i pick one up, and how much do they usually cost? And is it easy to put in the new SIM card?
Also, is it possible to change the phone number on the phone? When i look in the phone info, it still shows his # in there. Once i start using it, I dont want to be getting all of his calls :-/
And the last question. How would i go about putting games on this? No modern cell phone would be complete without games of some kind, and this one doesnt seem to have any games yet.
Edit: My friend swears he put the charger in the box, but it doesnt seem to be there, so it looks like im buying a new one. Does anyone know if these sites are legit? I dont feel like getting ripped off...

Generally, you can put any phone on a prepaid account, but it depends on your service providor. With Telus, in Canada as long as I buy the phone I can use it for prepaid. you have to buy a starter kit first though. Just call the service providor.

And with respect to his number, when you get it reactivated, the number will change to whichever you are assigned.
