Can anyone tellme why it did this. This is the history.
Got the phone off ebay.
Had it activated
Would not get a signal, my stupid butt clicked the master reset on the back
and there you have it.
"service required call provider" Now this is a Service as in repair, not activation.
Any input would be great!

Had the same problem
I had the same problem. About 2 months ago, after having the phone for over a year, this message just popped up. I called Verizon tech support, and after doing "really" hard reset ... (take battery out, push the reset button along with either the hangup button or the light button, don't remember) the message was still there. They sent me a new (refurbish??).
After a week, I noticed that after talking on the phone for a while, when the phone/battery got hot, the message would pop up. By simply replacing the battery (with a cooler one) the message went away. One time I even placed the phone by the air-conditioner outlet and seemed to fix the problem.
Yesterday, the problem came back and none of the above works. So I pulled the antenna out and then bent the spring that's inside the phone so it would make better contact. So far it's been an hour, the phone works.
Hope some of this helps.
