Would this USB cable (can be found here: http://www.globecell.com/store/comer...dCategory=7327) actually fit the K10 Royale? It says it does but the picture doesn't look like it would. The cable is supposed to plug into the earphone jack thingy, but hole is smaller than the end of the cable.

And how would it be used as a wireless internet connection? Who would I pay (and how much) for using it that way?

    Thanks for the help.

This shows the data cable by kyocera. It fits into the earphone jack. Your right, that other one does look different. Maybe it is a stock picture.

There are two ways to use the phone as a modem. You need the data cable and drivers, and the phone set up on your computer.

The phone is actually used as the modem. You must have the phone enabled as a modem. Furthermore, you must have a data plan from your phone service provider. On top of that, the data plan should support using the phone to tether to a laptop. If not you could end up with huge and expensive data charges.

One way, is that your service provider is your ISP, and you call in to them according to the data plan you have. Depending on the plan they may offer unlimited data for a flat fee, or charge by the KB or MB, or the data is deducted as time from your bucket of minutes. Night & Weekend minutes is good for the latter.

The second way, is you call in to your regular dialup ISP like earthlink or AOL that you pay. You are still charged for data from your cell provider for usage, on top of the ISP charges.

In general most cell providers don't want you to use your phone as a modem. You will find the speed close to or slower then dialup for anything of reasonable cost. You can get faster, but it becomes very expensive. Like $60-80/month or more. Most cell phone providers are pushing PCMCIA cards that plug into your laptop and provide data access over the cell towers. These are indepedent of your cell phone and are billed as a second line. Some companies give a discount if you get a data card in addition to their phone plan.

There are some ways around this, but for the most part they involve hacks that are specifically against the terms of use when you started your plan. I would stick to the legit stuff that is supported by your provider.
