Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Tap “Eco Mode
  4. Set Eco Mode to “Auto on” and select a battery percentage for the mode to enable automatically
  5. Alternatively, disable Auto On and tap “ON” (always on)
  6. To customize how Eco Mode works, tap the “Gear” icon in the top-right corner to gain access to Wi-Fi, auto-rotate, brightness options and more

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the “V” arrow to view all the tiles
  3. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Hotspot”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) tiles to disable the features

Use 2G instead of 4G:

  1. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Cellular networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Select “GSM only” / 2G

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Tap “Settings
  3. Go to “Display
  4. Disable auto brightness if necessary
  5. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
  6. Tap “Sleep” in the “Display” menu and select a lower timeout value

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By syncing less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run. To reduce sync:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Tap “Accounts” > “Menu
  4. Clear the “Auto-sync data” option
  5. Additionally, you can select an account and change / disable the desired sync options

Disable Background Data:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Data usage
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Restrict background data
  4. Tap “OK” to confirm

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even when you don’t use them – assuming that the apps perform regular background tasks / processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Go to “Apps” and access the “All” tab
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Disable” to turn off the app
  6. To remove the app completely, tap “Uninstall” > “OK

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: New software updates can include battery life fixes / improvements. As such, you should always keep your phone up to date. To check for OS updates:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll down to “About phone
  4. Tap “System updates” > “Check for updates
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to download the update if available
