    got it!!!!

i finally figured out what was wrong. the .sfk file is not a valid "audio" file so i was renaming the wrong file. the best way, that i found, to change the file type from one certain extention (.mp3, .wav. etc.) to midi is to open up windows media player then go to file, save media as..., and rename the file by adding ".mid" at the end of the name of the file. this will automatically recreate the file as a midi sequence file. then use bitpim (i use the .7 test version 8 for my lgvx60000) to upload the file using the bitpim interface. there is no restarting the phone or anything as soon as you send the data to the phone they are instantaneously transferred when bitpim is done.
hope this helps someone out there.
    peace
