goto driversguide.com and download the LG drivers.. its under the LG name on page 27.. usb to serial convertor drivers or something like that..

this is where i made these instructions myself its the only way it would work..

    restart your computer
    install drivers
    restart again
    hookup cable
if windows shows it up as a device it should work fine.. if not.. try again

Once you have downloaded the driver file (it should be a .exe file) open it and it should begin a decompression process. Make sure you know where it decompresses the files. It is also worth while to give it a quick scan with your antivirus software.

go to the newly uncompressed files and look for the 'setup' file, open that, and follow the insturctions. This 'should' work.

however, I found that for me, it didn't, which meant that you have to install the driver manually.

to do this, go to the uncompressed files, look for the driver folder. Inside this folder should be more folders, and one should include a folder that matches your operating system. You need to know where this folder is because to install a driver manually, you will direct your computer here.

now, go to your device manager, find your 'device' (ie. usb-serial cable). it should have a yellow question mark on it. right click on it, select properties, or maybe the option to install driver is right there (depends on your Operating system)

click install, and follow the instructions, but be sure to avoid the "automatic" updates" and such, you will want to do this on your own. It should prompt you to locate the driver, and here is where you direct it to the folder that you found earlier.

My cable seems to be recognized by my computer, but I still can't get to my phone because, i think, bitpim doesn't work yet with the L1200. So, I hope this works for ya.

Maybe the poster needs some genuine advice/direction and it's you that needs the poster to get rid of the computer. Just 'cuz someone is new and doesn't know anything about computers doesn't mean they can't learn.

What I'm saying, is, don't be an ass

now that is very true...this site isn't all that helpful. Must not be a lot of traffic with knowledgable people...or like you said, they are 'asses' themselves.

These cell phones present an interesting culture clash, because on a website with this, you get people who are very computer and tech proficient, and then you get others who just want to use their phone. There are many more people out there who use phones but don't know a thing about computers, which makes a website like this so interesting, because our phones are very advanced little computers.

I guess I'm just saying that we shouldn't be too hard on people 'cuz we don't know their background.
