I've ordered a Data cable for my VX7000 and am shopping around for software.

BitPim looks good (free) but it states that video data is ignored.

One of the main reasons I want this is so my daughter can download her photos and videos without having to use the phone every time.

    Suggestions welcome!

    Answering my own question...

Well, the cable came, the drivers got installed (I'm really not sure how...this is a very clumsy driver install routine) and I loaded both BitPim and QPST.

    So, BitPim or QPST?

    And the answer is:

YOU NEED THEM BOTH! (Or at least you'll find having both more convenient.)

BitPim is okay for handling the addressbook and backing up the phone data to hard disk.

QPST seems to do a more straightforward job of pulling files like video, photos etc. off the phone and storing it to hard drive.

There is another program I tried: Mobile Action's "Handset Manager for LG VX7000. Free download, as well:

Unfortunately, the software won't load, even if I load the drivers that came with this. It doesn't look too appealing from the feature set.

The bottom line: Nothing I've tried so far does everything I want easily. The user interface of BitPim leaves something to be desired.

All are more convenient (and cheaper!) than e-mailing images, videos etc. and BitPim's contact manager does save a lot of irritation.
