you can hit options and see if theres something that say "shutter sound"(or sumthin like that)...
thats what it says on my vx6000...but ive never used a 6100 so im not sure if its gonna have that option.Pablo Escobar Santana...

Yup!!!!! You are in luck man! Yes,there is one way to make the camera silent when you take the photos.But before I answer you,let me ask you somethin man... Do u wanna take some gal's pic secretly or what??? Just kiddin man.. don't take it seriously..
Anyway here's the solution... Just activate the manner mode & then start the camera & click!!..If you dont know how to activate the manner mode.. here's how... Just click & hold the * button on ur cell phone for 3 seconds.It would automatically go into Manner Mode.Just go now to the camera options & take a pic.it wouldn't sound then & if u want to get back to the original stuff(in case u want it with sound),just deactivate by holding the * button on ur cell phone for 3 seconds...That's it....U r back to normal again...
Try it,man.. & do let me know when you get it...

You should also be able to put your camera into silent mode from the camera settings, that way you can have your phone ring and the camera shutter silent.
