Okay...I'm getting into it with my cell phone provider and have spent about $200 dollars, only to be told, "sorry, can't do anything for ya". Anyway, they are sending me this phone that id not anywhere near the quality of the phone I'd originally paid for and am not happy. I was wondering though...a long time ago, before I was 18 with no credit and my mom was teaching me "responsiblity" by not co-signing and having me use a prepaid phone, I came into possession of the cutes little LG flip phone, a 1400 i think. It's at home. And I guess my question is instead of putting the SIM card i have now, into the crappy phone they're sending me, Can I put it into my LG? Can the LG be unlocked? Is it something you can even unlock or use with a SIM? How do i go about this....should I even have my mom mail it to me at all? I feel like I can't focus on a thing with all of my cell phone drama?! Help! Any advice or info would be VERY appreciated! THank you!

Where did the LG come from - was it a dealer???
Maybe they can unlock it for you?
I had my sony unlocked from the dealer I got it off, otherwise there are some people out there who have cable's and softwares to unlock phones - not sure how reliable they are tho...
    Good luck

As far as I know... that phone does not have a sim card. I have an LG and it doesn't have a sim card. They may have evolved (LG) and started using the sim card technology, but that I don't know.

As far as I know, only the newer GSM phones have a SIM card. I have a LG L1400 and it does have a card.

A lot of the US phones don't have nor need SIMS cards. It really depends on the carrier though too.

Most CDMA phones do not need SIM cards.

I can honestly say, I have only seen one phone WITH a SIM's card. They are totally alien to me.

    hmmmmmm

so, if it doesn't have sim card capabilities....I won't be able to use it with my current provider, since that is who i have service through and they have a sim card. So, unless i purchase a phone off, say ebay, that has sim card capabilities and id unlocked...I'm pretty much stuck with sticking my simcard from the broke phone i have into the crappy phone they're sending?! THanks so much, by the way for the great responses so far....very helpful...hadn't thought of some of those things before. Oh and, the phone, i purchased at walmart and they gave me a card to prepay it on...it's very old. But I like the model. So i will check into whether it can take a sim card....if not though, it's unuseable right?

Hehe... you must have an older phone than mine Jen...?

...but anyway, I digress... May I inquire WHY your phone is being replaced originally?

Personally, I wouldn't accept an inferior phone... and when I had issues in the past with phones... (no issues since I was with Sprint many, years ago...) I always was provided my phone or better... it would be unacceptable to accept a lesser phone if it wasn't my fault that my phone needed replacing.

Yeah Cozi, that is a major pain, but now Verizon has the ability to transfer everything over for you when you buy a new phone. Just kinda sucks on ringer's and wallpapers though.

Wow, I just fell really low down the cell phone food chain!!! I just have to keep reminding myself that my "new every two" is May 31st...
Gman, it's an LGVX4400 ... no camera or anything too fancy. Although, when I first bought it, which was about three years ago, I loved it and thought I couldn't have done better. Now look at me
Alcozma and Mark, stop laughing at me!!!

I have that also Jennie...that new every two months....oh..wait, you said years...hehe

EDIT: Is your two years up on the 31st Jennie? Is that the end of your 24 months or is that the 22 month point? Because you can get a new phone at 22 months not 24.
