data cable problem

ok so i went to radio shack and bought the data cable and the snapmedia software. i put it in and installed it. well now its not detected my phone. it doesnt even give my phone as an option. has anyone else used this. its the 1.6version. they gave it to me so i figured it was the right one. the data cable is for the 1200 but it wont detect my phone. i updated the software but it still doesnt have the lg l1400 as an option. if i use the vx7000 it works but now i cant find my ringtones. no matter where i move them i still cant get them to come up. what folder should i put them in someone help me out....also how do i find where the port is on my phone.
