I'm looking into the company that sells this:

I have someone that's buying one of those to try out.

or you can always go into a verizon store. the cable is the same that fits any phone after the 4500/6000. its $39.99 though, but if you have any data related problems, verizon has an excellent data support group that can help you out, not to mention a 1-yr warranty on all accessories/phones, if its defective and the store has them in stock, usually they can do a direct swap.

Besides the price that Erik mentioned above, another thing Verizon will now know is that you have a data cable.

If you mess your phone up because you don't know what your doing (with the cable and bitpim), and you take the phone back in, they are going to know that you messed up the phone using the cable vs if you buy your cable from someplace else and mess the phone up, you can take it in......Lie through your teeth, and more-n-likely get a new phone or your's fixed.

That's just another way of looking at it.

It's okay, I got my cable yesterday and loaded ringtones on all 3 of our VX5200 phones.

    vx5200 data cable and software

    NWMoMike,

Mike, not sure which forum you visit most, so thought I'd try both.

I have a vx5200 with Verizon, you seem to have had success with updating your ring tones on your phones, can you also update and backup your contacts and dates with this cable and software?

    thanks

You can backup your contacts. I'm not sure which file/s it is or which tree it's under. You can backup any part of the data on the phone. However since the files are .dat I'm not sure you can update them yourself. They're not plain text files in any case. Maybe there is something out there that will read them but I don't know of it.

I saw the schedule stuff under /sch/schedule.dat and schexception.dat.

    NWMoMike,
Thanks, think I'll give the cable and BitPIM a try. There is software (can't remember the name right now) that will allow a person to synch with a PC and that is supposed to allow updating of contacts, etc from the PC.

    NevadaM,
There are several, one is Data Pilot. But again they do not support the VX5200 phone yet. It's just a matter of time.

    Hi,

I'm new to the site, but I noticed that everyone here seems to be doing what I want to do: access their VX5200. I received the cable from CellPhoneShop the other day, but it didn't come with drivers and the sticker on the package which gave the location of drivers online was torn.

Does anyone know where I can get drivers for this cable in addition to a program that will let me access my phone? The writing on the package that is readable read goes:

where the ??? are letters I cannot read.

    Thanks!
