MP3 in My Media, but can't ring with it

I finally got MP3s to my C2000 via mms messaging, and the sounds appear in the My Media sound folder. I can also listen to the files from this location. However, when I go to set the ringtone to one of my files, my files no longer appear in the list.

Anyone know if there are specific specs for the mp3 file compression in order to operate as a ringtone?

This stuff should be in the manual.

Email, where 1234567890 is your phone number:
[email protected] with the mp3 as an attachment.

Get to the phone, I can play the sound on the phone just fine, but it won't let me assign it as a ringer. GARR!

    Bitpim clarifications needed here...

Isn't it just for CDMA phones? And is the c2000 actually supported?

heres the best way i found to make ringtones for your cell.. in mp3 format
you'll need 2 programs mp3 wav editor and dBpower music converter
use the editor to get the part of the mp3 you want, then use the converter to shrink the size of the file.
upload the ringtone mp3 to a website hosting site (i have space through school) then go to your website through your phone, and download the song

Ok... cable is found at cellphoneshop.net and you can also buy the software there for this phone... i didn't get the software, though now I am wishing I had. You can get the drivers at http://home.netvigator.com/~wjcorp9/dku5 and there is a free download of software that lets you access the contacts and calendar.... not what we seem to be wanting for the ringtones and pics, but it is something at least .... http://global.mobileaction.com/downl...ID=419&go=+Go+ for that software... hope that helps someone out there... and if you find out how to get ringtones, let me know ;0
I've heard you need to convert your MAX 30 sec clip of an mp3 to monotone (since it will play on 1 speaker anyway) and 24 hz, then email it to your phone (assuming you have email set up on your phone - there is also a website that you can upload to for free, then use that to browse to with your phone, enter a code and download it... like 88kb/song... max 3 for ringtones is what the phone will hold... again, this is only what I have heard... I am still banging my head against the wall trying to find software - free or CHEAP - to allow me to use my cable, rather than pay Cingular a dime for downloading my own clips
