I want to put ringtones on it but since I can't use recorded ones I have to use the alternate way of getting a cable and using software to put it on. I'm ready to order a cable but when I downloaded bitpim I couldn't find the 5200 in the setup. Anybody know what I should do? Thanks in advance.

You either need to find another software that is compatible with the 5200, or you can wait until BitPim supports it.

On another forum a guy was successful selecting the VX4650. Only the filesystem tab works. But hey, it's better than nothing.

My cable shipped yesterday so I'm waiting to give it my shot.

Mike, which cable did you order? The ebay one, a FD one, or the one from cell accessories? Seems we have several options here and I haven't seen any general consensus on which to go with, other than stay away from the one without the serial chip knuckle in the center...

I can't look at it from work. I couldn't tell you if it had the serial chip knuckle or not that I think about it. It's listed under suresurfer. Item 5809285958. I hadn't heard about that part. Guess I'll find out when it gets here.

I received my cable and it worked great. It has the serial chip in the knuckle. It uses the Prolific drivers for the cable. I had to select "Other CDMA Phone" and selecting the right port.
