I recently got a USB cable for my LG9800 and have been adding some custom ringtones. I've also been trying to set a specefic ringtone for a specific contact and that contact only.
Under their contact info I have the ringtone I want set for them, I also have a default ringtone set in the basic options. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but I always get the default ringtone instead of that contact's ringtone.
Any insight on what I am doing wrong?

Re: 9800 Contact Ringtones
Hmmm....if you went in and edited the contact information and change the ringtone there and then saved the change. The ringtone should ring for that person. I have noticed that my phone would do that, but it did it because the area code wasn't added to the contact and when a person would call, and it showed their area code, even though the number was the same and all, the area code threw the phone off.
You may want to check that.

Re: 9800 Contact Ringtones
Yeah....me either.
You don't have all calls setup do you? Try and set that to Get New Ringtones, so there is nothing set there.
I'm a bit lost....because if you went in and set the ringtone per individual contact, it should ring for them.
What Version firmware are you using/running?
Go to:
System
Device Info
SW Version
Where it says SW Version the last the number's/letters is what you are looking for.
It is either going to say V01 or V02. You should be running Version 2 or V02.

Re: 9800 Contact Ringtones
I'm running V02 as I just did an update a few weeks back.
I have a ring tone set for all calls as sort of my default. Then I also have certain ring tones set for a few certain people but it just always plays the default one.
I'm sure this is probably human error but just not sure were I'm messing up.

Re: 9800 Contact Ringtones
yeah...me either. Let me get this right:
Your bringing up your contacts.
Then pressing on edit (soft button the left side)
Then scrolling down to ringtone and pressing Set (soft button the left side)
Then scrolling through your ringtones till you find the one you'd like and pressing ok. Once it shows the ringtone name, you press the ok button to save the ringtone.
It should then at that point say it's updating the contact.
Is this how your doing it?

Re: 9800 Contact Ringtones
Exactly how I am doing it, nothing ever works first time for me!
I'll be going up by my local verizon store, so I'll probably just stop by and get their IT person to see what's up with it.

Wow...this one sure has me scratching my head.
Let me know how it turns out and what the problem was and how they fixed it if they do.

Re: 9800 Contact Ringtones
Well I took it to Verizon earlier and spent a good hour+ there trying to figure this out. It came down to the point of doing a full system reset to fix the problem. Some glitch or setting was causing it to do this.
Thanks for helping bossdragon, appreciate it!
