Okay I got the data cable and bitpim 0.8.13 and it was working flawless and great and I was making ringtones like no other. then when I decided to make 1 and uploaded it, I went to preview it and when I hit play it restarted my phone I noticed some ring tones were missing and now I am having a very hard time getting more ringtones to go on my phone without it restarting every time I preview it... Has this ever happen to anyone before?

Have you put to many ringtones on the phone? The phone alots only so much space for ringtones - even though memory may show that there is still plenty of room left - and once you have maxed that alotted amount, it will start causing problems for you.

Same problem I had ... I removed all of the tones I made and it appears to be fine ...... did you ever get the phonebook editor to work? I cannot import my 100 contacts from a .csv file..... it appears the software is not friendly at all

The only thing you can do is try swapping ringtones around. Sounds like you're out of space or one of the files is corrupt.

i haven't tried to make ringtones yet, but i have had the same kinda problem with transferring music to my phone via computer. i have a 1gb minisd card and i transferred a 50 cent album and then i tried transferring a couple more songs right after that and it deleted my whole 50 cent album. how is that possible if i just bought the memory card and and these are the only songs i've transferred?

First off, the 8100 does not have a "ton" of internal memory (64MB Flash/32MB SRAM). Even though you may see so much memory, not all of that is allocated for ringtones. It's also for wallpaper, video's, voice recording, etc. So if you have 32 megs of internal memory, you may only have 3 to 5 megs of that set aside for ringtones.

Also, depending on the size of the ringtone, you could have used up all the allocated space in five to six ringtones. I have seen people make ringtones that where 500kb + in size when they should only be 50 to 70kb in size.

It could also be because as tavenger stated, you have a corrupt file.
