    My old motorola V265 could make a tone when you lost or regained service...is it possible to make a VX8300 do that?

    on ur vx 8300 go to the settings and tools menu

    press 3 (sound settings)

    then press 6 (service alerts)

    then 1 (ERI)

    then turn eri on
