I currently have Samsung A900 and a contract with sprint. Service is ok and I dig the blade, but Ive fallen in love with LG's VX8500 Chocholate phone. Ive had verizon in the past but the reason i want to stick with sprint is because, aside from having a contract with them, My girlfriend and closest friends have sprint. (unlimited sprint to sprint) Love that part. I would go through some long hastles to get the chocholate phone to work with my sprint services, but have no idea where to start. Looked into all the unlocking and sim card stuff, learned a bunch, but still dissapointed. Any help? Any suggestions? Thanks =)

So is there any way of maybe using 3rd party software to crack phone? Im completely obsessed with the new LG vx8500 (chocolate) but i have sprint and have a a900 blade. Would there be any way of legitimately specially ordering a vx8500 for sprint. From the actual manufacturer or maybe buying an unlocked version from overseas from where its directly made?

Take for instance the LGKG800- could i buy that unlocked phone and set it up with my sprint service?

No, and no. If you're on Sprint, you're stuck with Sprint phones. Verizon, you're stuck with Verizon phones. You can't cross the two.

that last one was incorrect... my recomendation is to order the kg 800 from celluloco.com it is really good thats where i got mine... i live in canada and the phone came factory unlocked (never been locked to a company) so it worked with my rogers wireless. I do warn you tho if you buy this phone it will not have as good reception as a sprint store phone would... but if you ask me its well well worth it... have fun and remember celluloco.com

We're not in Canada, and spum is correct. Please don't give people misinformation you don't know anything about. Sprint is a CDMA provider, the KG800 you speak of is not CDMA, it's tri-band GSM (this means it would have really crappy service with some GSM carriers in the US who use 850mhz towers). CDMA phones can't be unlocked and used with a different carrier here in the USA. If you read the post I linked you to, that should be all the answer you need to answer the question. NO, the chocolate will not be compatible with Sprint, there's nothing you can do about that. Sprint only activates Sprint phones with Sprint ESNs, even if you change the software you can't change the ESN (it's generally illegal to tamper with any kind of serial numbers, this applies to cell phones too).

Re: vx8500 - Could it ever work with sprint?

Look, the KG800 will not work on Sprint service. The United States is pretty picky when it comes to cell phone carriers, specifically the CDMA carriers. Any CDMA carrier in the United States (Verizon, Sprint, Alltel) needs to have the serial number of an activated phone in their database before it can be activated. Sprint does not sell the VX8500, nor do they sell the KG800. Neither phone, regardless of serial number, would be in their database of phones that would be acceptable to activate on their system. The phone, even if it was CDMA, could not be activated on the Sprint network.

Problem number 2. Review: LG KG800 - infoSync World
The phone is not a CDMA phone. It is GSM. This means that it uses a different technology to try to pick up the signal. A Sprint tower will be sending out CDMA signals, and the KG800 will be looking for GSM signals. It's like buying a Toyota transmission and expecting it to work in your Ford. It's not going to happen. Now, you might be able to activate an unlocked KG800 on a GSM carrier (Cingular, T-Mobile). I'm not sure about this because the KG800 is not a US phone and may not have a GPS or other federal requirements needed for activation in the US...but I don't know all the details here because I've never worked with a GSM carrier before.

Please, before you try to correct people, do a little bit of research. There is no way to activate the KG800 on the Sprint network.

Actually yes you can us the LG VX8500 in sprint i have one ... you need to change the ESN on the VX8500 with the one of the phone you are using now .. you can do that with QPST there are different manuals you can find in the web on how to do that .. you may find them with a different model but the process is the same after you do that u need to change the PRL that the VX8500 has to the one that your phone has you can do this with QPST or with LGDownload ... and i say this because im using an LG VX8500 with totalcall Mobile wich is power by Sprint ...

And something else of course you need to put your number in the VX8500 ... on the main menu press 0 seven times a menu will come well lets u change the MDN n the MSID if u have a Samsung a900 u can check your MDN n MSID by presing ##000000# view ....

    I hope that helped
