VX7000 Inside Screen On But Blank

I have an LG VX7000 through Verizon that is about 1.5 years old. This past Friday evening after having it in my front jeans pocket as usual for a few hours, I pulled it out and opened it up to find that the inside screen was on and glowing, but not showing any information. I have tried taking out the battery for a while, but it is still blank. The phone otherwise functions normally.

Has anyone had this happen before? Does anyone have any suggestions as far as a way to fix the problem, or do you think the screen is just dead?
