So I purchased a new phone two weeks ago, and have gotten around to wanting to do more than make calls, take calls, and check voice mail; which the VX8700 does quite well. I have a contact list of about 600 folks I want to send to the phone....names, home, work, mobile, numbers I want to 'sync' to the phone. I have a few choice photos of my kids I want to occasionally view while on travel, as well as listen to a few mp3's.

The MA-730 blue tooth widget would not work, MA said 'your screwed' sent it back to AccessoryGeeks 'cause you be on 'lockdown' with the 8700. Got a USB cable, can't seem to get it to work, when I tell bitpim to search for the phone my computer gets the dreaded BSOD with ousb2hub.sys in the lock up line.

What can I do to 1) get information from and to the phone, such as contact, mp3, and photo's? 2) if I abandon this phone, of course in two years, what is an unlocked, good phone, replacement?

    Thanks for any help,

    John

    Re: VX8700 lock down?

The short solution seems to be to download the Verizon V-Cast software with it's drivers for the LG VX8700 phone to see the phone with the serial to usb cable. Played around with adding two songs, tedious and time consuming, but it worked and not so bad sound with just the speaker on high. Fired up bitpim and
am able to download the contacts list, missed, made calls lists and import and export them as well from outlook. So for now I am good. Still want to be able to have the thing be just another usb device icon that I can drag and drop to on my desktop. Sigh....I will find a way.
