Hi, I live in Canada and am going to get an LG Shine soon, but I'm having trouble deciding on the Flip version of it (8700) or the slider (TU720). I was hoping someone could help me out with this decision.

Is there any advantage to either? I love the mirror thing of the slider, but I also tend to prefer flip phones because of things like scratches and fingerprints on the screen. Both are awesome phones and have a few differences, so, in your opinion, which is better, or is it completely preference based on the person using it?

Because I'm in Canada, the phone I would get would also be choose the service provider I'd be using, because Telus only has the flip version, and Rogers only has the slider. Is there any significant advantage from Rogers rather than Telus? Because at the moment whenever I try to choose plans for the Slider Shine on Rogers site, it says unavailable, so I don't know how Rogers plans work for the Shine.

    Thanks

My friend is currently going through the same dilemma. What I can definately tell you is that Telus does not seem to have an 'upgrade' option. He talked to one of their staff today because he want to see if his old LG can be upgraded to the 8700. Well the response was not very clear because she doesn't want to tell him that he cant turn his old phone in for a discount towards a new one. Rogers however has an upgrade option and their rate plans are better to him personally.
As for the rogers website problem, here is the info:
    Rogers.com - LG TU720 SHINE

Maybe a bit late for the reply but nice to know someone is in the same boat as he is. Personally he is dumping his old Telus totally and activating a new rogers TU720 with a 2 year.

Hi, well first off I have an 8700 and my girlfriend has the 720. Easy choice, she regrets, I don't. Much easier to protect the 8700 screen then the open ended screen of the 720. Much more fonctionality on the 8700. Bluetooth, possibility of tv and videos on the 8700. Internet sites show 720 as having ''turning off bug'' that happens on occasions and a few problems with it's music player. Just type ''TU720 and problems'' on google and you'll see.
