If I understand correctly Verizon is closing the loophole that has allowed us to modify ours phones to be able to use DUN via the EVDO network and I have a few questions around this. For one, i'm thinking of upgrading to the LG Dare which is going to force me to go the Nationwide Plan (I currently have America's Choice II). I'm aware of the $1.99/MB, but I subscribe to Vcast so there should be no problem there. My question is, in my area DUN via EVDO network is still working, but if I upgrade my plan to the Nationwide would I be risking loosing DUN even though it's still working on my America's Choice II plan or once they close the loophole in my area it's gone for good no matter what plan I have? Second question is, has anybody found a way around the loophole they're closing? Thanks!

Short answer... By using DUN without subscribing to Verizon's BBA plan, you are commiting theft of service which has consequences if caught.

If/when Verizon closes the loop hole, if its something on your phone it may be possible to get around, but there is no way to get around what is controlled by their system...

Has it been determined yet whether or not them closing the "loop hole" is something within the phone or is it something they are doing on their side?

Judging by the postings of some who said it was working, now they get to that web site only...

And those who are "late to the party" that have done the same hacks to their phones but get directed to that web site when they try tethering...

I'd say its on Verizon's system end...

    Just an update....

After receiving my LG Dare in the mail and upgrading to the NW plan from the ACII plan, my DUN is still working. Who knows for how long, but is confirmed working. This new rev. for the EVDO has great upstream speed!!!
