I think I know. I have this phone. replaced 8 times in a year. i think its the firmware. the new one doesn't save the words. you can tell if you have the new one by looking at where the little vibrate icon, lock icon, ect. are. if your blue line with them are more solid light blue than before, its the new one. or you can go to sound settigns. if you have an "emergency tone" option, its the new one.

sigh its so dumb. i don't know how to downgrade except by going to the store and saying its not saving words. and see if they will replace. and hope you get older firmware..

text out the word you want to save, then hit 'options' and hit 'save as quick text'. it will save it to your word dictionary.

I think this should work for you. Click your "Menu" button. Next click your "Messaging" button. "New Message should be highlighted. Click "Settings" then click "Entry Mode". Click on "Word" and you are done. This is how I do it on my LG env2.

If I were you, I would look at other phones besides the Versa. I have a friend that looked at all the touch screens and found them to be clunky and hard to use. He also found the Versa cheaply made. I, myself would never get a touch screen. Before I got my env2, I tried a few of them. Not easy to text and overall big and heavy. The Storm came out right after I got my phone. Verizon called me and I went up to their store to check it out. I did not like it at all. Made a clicking noise when pressing on the touch screen. Very heavy, like most touch screens and really hard to navigate around on the phone. I put it in a long line of touch screen phones that don't impress me at all. I want a phone that is not easy to damage, yet is able to do the things I want in a phone with ease. I have found the env2 to be one of the best phones that I have ever owned.
