Lg vu tu915

I just purchased a LG VU model TU915. I am trying to have the phone alert me when I receive e-mail, but am unable. I can access my e-mail through the phone, just not get an alert when I receive it. I have set it up with my provider send it to my phone number, but still nothing. The manual says the phone can receive alerts.

Does anyone know how to get this to work?

I started receiving the alerts, just out of the blue.
I did nothing different, it just started working.

See, I would have had no idea how to do that.

I am not a huge fan of Mobile Email applications, so it wouldn't be something I would use.
